Outline

'Just To Flag' was a public installation & information campaign for the Covid-19 pandemic, inspired by the history of the AIDS crisis.

Introduction

The brief for this project was to design a flag to be displayed along The River Liffey that would encourage the public to adhere to health advice amid the Covid-19 pandemic. It was vital that the flag design maintain a positive message and be visually striking. My research centered on the AIDS crisis, and I found social workers and researchers that encouraged patients to illustrate their hopes and fears during their illness. While some were dark and disturbing, others had a bright sense of optimism. These formed the foundation of my approach. The final design was printed and displayed outside the Dublin City Council offices for the duration of the campaign.
